History of the world-adorning Shāh Ismā`īl (Tārīkh-e jahānārā-ye Shāh Ismā`īl). The dramatic military successes of Ismā`īl I (r. 1501-1524) were remembered for generations, in works of formal history as well as in popular story-telling tradition. One of a number of similar anonymous histories, this manuscript was made in 1683 in Isfahan, under the second-last of the Safavid shahs, Sulaymān (reigned 1666–1694).
