Soft cream paper, glossy, with laid and chain lines visible. Fol. 1, 2, and 180 are later added fly-leaves (two different types of European paper). Fol. 62-63 is a later bifolio, apparently 19th or 20th cent., with text, placed between the original leaves. Several inscriptions on fol. 2a, including ownership statements. Glosses on fol. 2b and 180a. A few thread page markers. Stained with humidity.Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the upper cover: "Naḥw 12". Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover: "Ḥ 589".Origin: According to colophon, copied by Maḥmūd ibn ʻAlī ibn ...?, and completed in the first decade of Rabīʻ al-Ākhar 844 [Sept. 1440] (fol. 179b).Incipit: بسم ... وبه نستعين الحمد لله قاشع غمام الغموم ... وبعد فان لب الالباب فى علم الاعراب لا يخفى على ذوى الالباب انه كثير الفوايد جم العوايد ... [4أ] بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الحمد هو الثناء على الجميل من جهة التنظيم ... [4ب] الموجد من العدم اى من غير سبق بمادة ومدة المستاثر اى المستبد بالقدمExplicit: لزيدة الانكار بخلاف المتذكر فانه لا يقصد الوقف وانما عرض له ما اوجب قطع كلامه من النسيان تم - Quarter bound in brown leather and marbled paper. Marbled paper pasted on the covers. - Commentary on Lubb al-albāb fī ʻilm al-iʻrāb, a treatise on grammar by Tāj al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad al-Isfarāʾinī (d. 684/1285).
