The reader of the Algerian endowments history during the Ottoman period, discovers the importance of its role played in the life of Algerian society. It was based upon it: the care of the scientists' affairs, the address of needs concerning the poor, the needy, the widows, and the orphans, and also the promotion of education and public service, and also repairing roads and drilling wells and spending on fortresses. The proof for that was the existence of many huge charitable institutions that arose under the auspices of the endowment and with its support.
