A well-known work on the lives of the theologians and doctors who lived under the Ottoman Sultans. Autograph copy. | Ms. codex., Title from title page (fol. 1a)., Marginal notes and glosses; marginal summaries in red. On the title page occur a table of contents, a statement about the number of folios in the MS and another title for the book, Tadhkirat al-ʻulamāʼ. On folio 1a and 261b are waqf statements in the name of ʻAbd al-ʻAẓīm ibn ʻUmar to Maktab ʻUthmān Afandī dated 1172. After the colopon is "Sukrʹnāmah-i ḥukamā" (fol. [i]b), Collation: Paper ; fol. 261 + i ; catchwords ; foliation in red ink using Hindu-Arabic numerals ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals., Layout: 17 lines per page., Description: Rubricated ; MS in fair condition but several folios are worm-eaten., Origin: According to colophon copy completed Thursday 26 Shawwāl 965 in Qusṭanṭinīyah (fol. 261a)., Incipit: بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الحمد لله الذي رفع بفضله طبقات العلماء وجعل اصواهم ثابية وفروعهم في السماء ... وبعد فانى منذ ما عرفت اليمين من الشمال ..., Colophon: نجزت المقابلة والتصحيح بقدر الامکان ... في يوم الخميس السادس والعشرين من شهر شوّال المبارك عمت ميامنه لسنة خمس وستين وتسعمائة بمحروسة قسطنطنية المحمية حماها الله عن الآفات والبلية امين يا ربّ العالمين تمت الکتاب | Later? type II (with flap) binding in dark brown leather.
