Ms. 908 v.3 Origin: Lacks dated colophon ; likely copied in Egypt in the late 1930s and bound for James Heyworth-Dunne (d.1974). Former shelfmark: Mich. Isl. Ms. temp. no. 57 Binding: Boards covered in dark green cloth with dark green leather over spine (quarter binding) ; pastedowns and flyleaves in wove paper printed with a floral vegetal pattern in green ; spine gold-stamped with title and owners, as well as decorative accents over raised bands "الاسفار |3 | J.H.D." ; sewing difficult to examine but appears to be over cords, in white thread, five stations ; stuck-on endbands ; overall in fairly good condition. Support: Lined / ruled wove paper of several different types and sizes ; includes a few recycled leaves (see leaves carrying p.161-162, 385-386). Script: Ruqʻah ; quick, modern hand in a medium to bold line ; serifless and freely ligatured with mainly closed counters, pointing somewhat careless and in strokes rather than distinct dots. Layout: Written in 26-27 lines per page. Collation: Pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization. Incipit: "فليمكننا ان نأخذ تلك الماهية كلية ... يمكن انه يوجد لها جزئي اخر لذاتها ..." Title from inscription at opening. Ms. codex. On upper pastedown label with ex libris of James Heyworth-Dunne (d.1974), stamped with inventory number, "Ex Libris | J. Heyworth-Dunne | D. Lit. (London) | No 7949" ; UM Library inscription on p.3 "Dunning | Heyworth-Dunne | 6-13-51 | 71955" ; ; pp.385-386 on printed "waste," namely an unfolded, lined sheet of stationary with "محمد حسين نعيمي الكردى السنوى طالب العلم بمصر بالازهر تحريرا في ___ سنة ١٣٣_" ; extensive marginal glosses.. Careful copy of what may be the third part of al-Ḥikmah al-mutaʻālīyah fī al-asfār al-ʻaqlīyah al-arbaʻah, Mullā Ṣadrā Shīrāzī's lengthy and important work on mystical philosophy (ḥikmah / ḥikmat).
