الحمد لله وسلام على عباده الذين اصطفى وبعد فهذا مختصر في علم الفقه جمعته لبعض اخواني في الدين... :Incipit
Title from caption (f. 1v)
First folio is later addition, written by a western hand. It contains spelling errors and is missing words.
Title is also supplied by the same western hand on ff. 1r and 1v. Author's name is not mentioned anywhere in the book.
Written in a naskh hand in black ink, 23 lines per page, rubricated in red, with marginal corrections. There are brief glosses on the margins on some pages, mostly in Arabic, some in Turkish. Turkish notes are mostly translations of difficult words and phrases and in a different hand. There are catchwords on the verso of each leaf except for the f. 1.
Cream laid paper. 21.1 x 15.5 cm. (16 x 8.5 cm.).
Bound. Paper over boards ; red leather over spine.
The ms is water-stained.
The main text of the book ends in f. 35r, line 18. Two anecdotes about Abū Ḥanīfah, which apparently do not belong to the book, follow it. First anecdote is introduced by "ḥikāyah"; and the second by "faṣl." This is followed by the colophon.
According to colophon, copy completed in Muḥarram 1069 AH [October 1658 AD] (f. 35v).
Seal of US Naval Lyceum (f. 35v).
In Arabic.
