نص عينة	Original paper covers with leather over edges and binding, both covers corrupting and separated from binding, linen binding untied; Neskhi script, black ink, certain terms and marks in the text written with red ink; interlinear and marginal notes, ink: black and red. Originalne korice od slepljenih listova hartije, kožno pojačanje preko rubova i hrpta. Platneni povez. Neshi. Rukopis je pisan crnim tušem, pojedini termini i oznake u tekstu zapisani su crvenim tušem. Beleške između redova i na marginama zapisane su crnim i crvenim tušem. Izvorni poetski koine je sačuvao protosemitski bezvučni glotalni ploziv u svim pozicijama dok je u mekanskoj varijanti on svuda nestao osim na početku reči, sledeći govorni mekanski dijalekat. Slične promene se dešavaju u svim savremenim varijantama arapskog. U zavisnosti od samoglasnika koji ga okružuju, bezvučni glotalni ploziv je ili potpuno izbrisan, prešao u (w) ili (j), ili je izbrisan posle produžetka kratkog vokala koji mu prethodi. Kuran koji je izvorno zapisan prikazuje takve promene; pošto se tekst smatrao svetim, slova nisu izmenjena. The original poetic koine had preserved the Proto-Semitic glottal stop in all positions, whereas the Meccan variant had eliminated it everywhere except initially, following the spoken Meccan dialect. Similar changes occur in all the modern varieties of Arabic. Depending on the surrounding vowels, the glottal stop was either deleted entirely, converted to /w/ or /j/, or deleted after lengthening a preceding short vowel. The Koran as originally written down represented these changes; since the document was considered sacred, the letters were not changed.
