Fiziksel açıklama Fragment of right hand side Vase carpet Heading tape removed from upper end (Dec. 97), hence clean band of colour. Warp: white cotton; Z4S; 36 threads per inch (124 per dm); depressed. Weft: shades of brown wool and white wool; Z2S; 3 shoots after each row of knots, 2 brown with 1 white sinuous shoot in between; 16 knots per inch (66 per dm). Pile: wool; 12 colours: dark red, red, orange, dark yellow, yellow, dark green, green, dark blue, blue, purple (faded to brown), pink, black; asymmetrical knot open to the left and tied around 2 threads; 288 knots per sq. inch (4092 per sq. dm). 1 row of shaggy knots on the reverse after about every 4 or 5 rows of knots on the front. The pile on the reverse is z-spun, unplied. From the right the colours are blue, red and a mixture of yellow and orange. Max. surviving length of pile is 5 cms. Side finish: cut End finish: cut Design: Field: appears to be a lattice of large diagonal serrated decorated leaves, each compartment having its own ground colour. There is evidence to suggest that each compartment would have contained 4 large complex blossoms and their stems form a central diamond. Small blossoms lie on a subsidiary pink and dark blue lattice. From the bottom the compartments are dark blue, then half a dark yellow and half a red, above them green and then half a dark blue and half a pink. Main border: dark red ground with a strapwork design: 2 meanders, one dark blue on top of a yellow one. These form an arch and then a palmette in sequence and then reciprocally. Inner border: purple and orange reciprocal trefoils outlined in green. Outer border: blue ground with angular meander with right angled blossoms and rosettes in various colours on a pink stem.
