Fiziksel açıklama Caucasian 19th century carpet; Lesghi design WARP: white wool; Z3S; 16 threads per inch (61 per dm). WEFT: light brown wool; Z2S; 2 occasionally 3 shoots after each row of knots; 7 knots per inch (28 per dm). PILE: wool; 6 colours: red, yellow, dark blue, blue, dark brown, grey; symmetrical knot tied around 2 threads; 56 knots per sq. inch (854 per dm). SIDE FINISH: 2 cords overcast with red wool. END FINISH: lower: 3 rows of plain soumak, over 4 threads and back under 2 in red; 4 rows of weft twining over 4 threads; knotted fringe 8 cms remaining. Upper: as above with the addition of a narrow band of plain weave in red between the soumak and the weft twining. DESIGN: field: dark blue ground; two vertical rows, each of three large stepped stars in blue or dark blue with quartered diamond in double hooked frame at the centre; each star lying on two further stepped outlines (paired horizontally) in red and grey or the reverse. A central row has two large crosses composed of eight squares each containing a small rosette and all lying within yellow chequered vertical and horizontal bands; at the lower end of the row is the top half oa a third cross, this one filled with flowerheads. Linking the crosses and at the top of the row are three stepped diamonds composed of many tiny flowerheads (the upper diamond is on a dark brown ground). The dark blue ground of the 2 -1/2 crosses are outlined with grey dots. At either side of the field is a further half row of crosses and diamonds, the half crosses having floral infillings. The second row of knots in the field is decorated by short lengths of knotting in all colours except dark brown. Main border: grey ground with a line of eight-petalled flowers in red, dark blue, blue and yellow. Inner and outer borders: narrow line of red and grey diagonal blocks.
