ملاحظات A band of woven, compound twill silk. Egyptian ca. AD400-600. The borders and motifs are in cream on a background of alternate brown and green threads with a dark cream warp. The edges are bordered with heart shaped floral morifs with lines either side. There are three motifs between the borders. The middle is curly haired warrior, wearing a tunic, with a raised sword in one hand and a shield in the other. He stands above what appears to be a lion (there is a hole in half the motif). There is a floral motif next to either side of the animal's turned head. Above the warrior is a circular, floral medallion. Eight oblong shaped leaves radiate out from a central circle; the ends of the leaves are bordered with two concentric circles. There are two lines between the head of the warrior and the medallion and possibly two lines beneath the lion. The piece has a number of holes. The dressed warrior could symbolise the moral fight between good and evil.
