WARP: dark red and white silk used in irregular bands; Z2S and Z3S; 30 threads per inch (120 per dm); depressed. WEFT: blue cotton; Z4S; 2 shoots after each row of knots; 18-22 knots per inch (70-86 per dm). PILE: silk; 13 colours: dark red, red, orange, yellow, dark green, green, light green, blue, light blue, purple*, pink (faded), black, white; asymmetrical knot open to the left and tied around 2 threads; 270-330 knots per sq. inch (4200-5160 per sq. dm). *marl = light and dark shades plied together. SIDE FINISH: one cord oversewn with dark red silk. END FINISH: lower: light green silk weft twining and 2 rows off-set knots and fringe. Double knotted fringe. Upper: one row of weft twining in light green and a woven edge finish with doubled pairs of warp threads. There is a fine plait at each corner from the side finish and the weft twining. DESIGN: Field: white ground with curvilinear lattice of dark green stems with blossoms forming two and two half rows of dark green ovals linked horizontally by a rosette in two shades of red and vertically by a blue and dark red rosette. Between the ovals is a yellow flower with pink and dark red centre. A leaf-like flower is inside each oval. Main border: blue ground with double dark red floral meander with white rosettes and orange palmettes. There is a change of design at the bottom edge of the main border. Inner and outer borders: dark red ground with lozenges, each containing a flowerhead. Outermost border: reciprocal diamond heads in orange and white.
