Earrings, in a wide variety of designs, were worn by women throughout the Islamic world. This example was acquired by the Museum in 1904 as part of a large donation, when it was described as modern Egyptian.

Short length of wire curled at one end to form a loop and at the other to form a wide hook. The loop holds a ring from which hang three chains of tight loop-in-loop links, each of which ends in a disc pendant with scalloped rim.
