Fiziksel açıklama
Fragment of plain woven undyed linen, with a short double sleeve-band tapestry woven in purple wool and undyed linen. There is a selvedge on the right edge of the ground fabric, and fringes formed from the twisted warp ends, collected to a small seam. The tapestry woven clavi are in rectangular dark-purple wool, with a fin white linen line. The tapestry warp is based on just some of the ground weave warp. The tapestry is connected to the ground weave only on the horizontal sides, where the warp ends are taken over. The backside of the tapestry weave is done with a linen tapestry weave, at which the ends of the weft-threads lie free as horizontal fringes over the fabric. On the right side, the fringe ends with the selvedge, and the same was probably true of the original left edge, so that the tapestry panels lay in the middle of the fabric. Plain weave: Linen warp (S-spun, 16-18/cm) Linen weft (S-spun, 12/cm) Tapestry weave: Linen warp (S-spun, 10/cm) Wool weft (Z-spun, 12/cm) Linen weft (S-spun) 5 ribs per cm
