Tapestry woven, circular medallion of s-spun wool. Egyptian, ca. AD300-500. The imagery is of a nude warrior holding a shield with something hanging from a belt (?) The warrior is in purple wool and is surrounded by a circle of purple scrolling waves. White background. A small section of the background exists below the image and is soiled. The naked warrior was a symbol of the battle for spiritual purity.
