ملاحظات	This bowl belongs to a group of ceramics called 'Gombroon wares' by an English visitor to Iran in 1698. Like this piece, they had a very glassy appearance. They were made of very fine fritware which had been cut away in places to form a pattern that was then filled by the glaze. Fritware was also known as stone paste or quartz paste. It was developed by Middle Eastern potters as a response to the challenge posed by Chinese porcelain. The main ingredient was fine quartz powder made by grinding sand or pebbles. Small quantities of white clay and a glassy substance known as frit were added. The clay gave plasticity. The frit helped to bind the body after firing.

Fiziksel açıklama	Footed bowl, fritware, the slightly flaring straight-sided bowl is pierced with a broad band of chevron designs, and raised on a waisted stem with spreading foot. The interior is incised and painted in underglaze blue with a central six-point star, surrounded by a shield-shaped band, note how the blue wells in the the incised details, further details and decorative bands are painted in underglaze black, the glaze fills in the pierced openings.
