ملاحظات Only fragments of this textile remain today - these decorated areas were cut out from the fabric when it was originally rediscovered, and the surrounding undecorated areas discarded. This was commonly practiced by nineteenth century dealers. Because of this, the original purpose of the textile was unclear, as the same decorative motifs often occured on both clothing and household furnishings. Indeed, running bands of similar composition are attested in several contexts.
İlişki Greville Chester
Malzemeler ve teknikler Plain woven linen, tapestry woven linen and wool Linen Wool Wool Weaving Plain Weave Tapestry Weave
Fiziksel açıklama 1278-1888 to 1278E-1888 comprise six fragments from a textile, possibly a furnishing. All of the fragments are tapestry woven in red, green, yellow and purple dyed wool on undyed linen. These fragments originally formed areas of decoration on a larger, plain woven undyed linen fabric, surrounding areas of which are preserved on several of the fragments. The decoration consists of a vertical band divided into alternating registers with dancing figures, dressed in yellow, red and green, and running animals (lions and hares). The figures are on a ground further decorated with floral designs. This central area is bordered with a running decoration of a wavy stem, with arrow-head leaves in red and green.
