Carpet 1: Warp:white cotton; Z6S; depressed; 26 threads per inch (104 per dm). Weft: white cotton; Z2S; 3 shoots after each row of knots; 11 rows of knots per inch (44 per dm). Pile: wool; 9 colours: red, dark red, yellow, dark yellow, green, light blue, dark blue, dark brown (corroded), white; asymmetrical knot open to left and tied around 2 warp threads. Side finish: cut. End finish: cut. Carpet 2: Warp: white cotton; Z3S; depressed; 20 threads per inch (80 per dm). Weft: wool - Z spun with 2 parallel threads per shoot; cotton - Z3S; 1 shoot wool to 2 shoots cotton; 11 rows of knots per inch (45 per dm). Pile: wool; 13 colours: red, dark red, orange, yellow, dark yellow, green, light green, blue, dark blue, light blue, dark brown, pink, white; asymmetrical knot open to right and tied around 2 warp threads. Side finish: cut on left; 1 cord oversewn with red wool on right. End finish: cut top and bottom. Wool Cotton Knotted Pile

9 fragments from 2 different carpets: Carpet 1 : Design: Main border: dark blue field with double meander - one in red and one in light blue - linking large blossoms, smaller flowers, and assorted leaves in all colours. Outer border incomplete - dark red floral meander. Inner border - reciprocal triangles in dark yellow and white; dark yellow ground with green meander, flowers, and leaves. Carpet 2 : Design: Central field: dark red ground with part of floral pattern with large serrated leaf in blue. Innermost border: reciprocal trefoil in blue (with 2 orange dots) and dark yellow (with 2 green dots). Secondary border: reciprocal V-shape in yellow and dark yellow outlined in dark blue. Outer field: dark blue ground; large blossom in corner from which springs coiling split leaf in green edged in orange; dark red split leaf edged in light blue intertwines blossoms and serrated leaves. Outer border: dark red ground; floral meander of white blossoms alternating with yellow, light blue and orange leaves.
