ملاحظات A cover, with silk embroidery, Iran, 19th century
Malzemeler ve teknikler cotton yarn, silk thread, weaving, embroidering, whitework.
Fiziksel açıklama Plain weave cotton, probably hand woven, embroidered with silk in straight stitches with pulled thread work and needleweaving; whitework. Pieced; perhaps it was originally much wider and it now forms an irregular square of three pieces. The three non-selvedge edges are rolled and stitched in place. The central area has a broken, irregular cross-form with lozenges and squares in a net of pulled thread work, but without symmetry because of the piecing together. Small 8-pointed stars in straight stitch are scattered on the field. The corner units are filled with narrow diagonal bands with [originally] a triangular unit of pulled thread work pointing into the centre. The border frame is a composite one with a narrow band of pulled thread lozenges [a], then circular forms of pulled thread [b] followed by a wider band of straight stitched lozenges edged with pulled thread work. Then a repeat of bands [b] and [a]. Cotton thread: Z-spun Embroidery Thread: white silk, 2S One seam is finely worked with silk; the other uses different thread and is cruder.
