ملاحظات
Iznik painters tamed the vertical growth of their foliage by breaking the stems and twisting them to fit the circle of the dish. The poignant effect, full of motion, was that of a garden in the throes of a storm. The cypress tree first appears in Ottoman wall-painting of the 15th century and its first use in Iznik pottery is from the 1520s. Frequently, the cypress tree appears in the centre of formal symmetrical decorative scheme, but here the painter has ignored conventions and created a more dynamic asymmetrical design.
