A decorative band from a linen tunic. Egyptian, possibly Akhmim, ca. AD300-600. Tapestry woven in purple/maroon wool and undyed linen. The band is decorated with a row of animals (boar, rabbit and possibly goat) separated by a wavy stem with floral icons coming off it (swirls and spade shaped leaves). Each side of this row is edged with a reverse scallop border. Above one corner of the band a border is made with three lines of weaving, thickened with extra linen threads. The warp is doubled linen thread, s-spun. The piece has holes at the ends and some staining.
