ملاحظات (1) An unidientified Arabic text and (2) A section from Faḍāʼil Makkah wa-l-sukun fīhā (On the virtues of Mecca and living there) فضائل مكة والسكن فيها and (3) another unidentified Arabic text, possibly hadīth and possibly a continuation of (1). (2): A treatise on the virtues of Mecca, attribute to al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī (d. 728) and otherwise known as Risālah fī faḍl ḥaram Makkah al-musharrafah. The text is framed as a letter to a friend who desires to leave Mecca and emigrate to Yemen. The colophon to the first text (image 21) records that the copy was completed in the morning (of which day?) in Rabīʻ I 1142/Sept-Oct 1729. The colophon to Risālah fī faḍl ḥaram Makkah al-musharrafah (image 31) records that it was completed in the morning of Wednesday, 2 Rabīʻ I 1142 'in the zāwīyah of Shaykh ʻAbd al-Ruʼūf, in the hands of the pious and righteous Faqīr ʻAbd Allāh'. It is possible that this 'zāwīyah' refers to the shrine of ʻAbd al-Ruʼūf al-Singkīlī, near the mouth of the Aceh river, or to the institution in Ulukan founded by Burhān al-Dīn, a disciple of al-Singkīlī. Physical characteristics: Naskh, black ink on paper with rubricated keywords. Some pages very decayed and worm-eaten. Author: al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī.
