ملاحظات
Large illuminated sheet in Arabic and Persian, apparently dated late 18th or early 19th century. Twenty-eighth table of a possibly bigger collection. The red text on the top of the page reads: "The remainder of Table Twenty-Eight: On Prayers for Ailments of the Body, quoted from the Infallibles (peace be upon them)" (بقیة الجدول الثامن والعشرون فی ادعیه علل الاعضاء المنقول عن المعصومین علیهالسلام) Headings in squares describe ailments, to the right of the prayers to be said to remedy them. Blue, red, green, yellow and orange are generally used for text in Arabic, whereas black is used for Persian text. The Persian part describes the method eg what actions have to be taken. For example, the seventh square on the right-hand side of the table contains instructions for healing neck pain. Translation: "For neck pain, Pray two units (raka‘ahs) of prayer. In each unit, recite Sūrat al-Ḥamd (al-Fātiḥah) once, and Sūrat al-Zalzalah three times. After that, rub your hand over the area of pain, send salutations (ṣalawāt) three times, and ask God, Glorified and Exalted, for healing and relief." Some other diseases listed are: الخنازیر (scrofula) البرص (vitiligo or leprosy?) السل (tuberculosis) and الوجع الرحم (womb pain) Arabic gives incantations to be read during these actions. Incantations for 18 different diseases. Central magic square (surrounded by Persian text) Gilt frame
