Abū l-ʿAlā’s father is dead, indicated not only by the usual post-mortem blessing after his name (זכ׳׳ל) but also the Hebrew חיי before his name. تبدأ الرسالة بكلمة عبرية، قبل التحول إلى اللغة اليهودية العربية (المحفوظة بشكل أساسي الآن في الهامش فقط). العنوان على الظهر. تحتوي المساحات الفارغة على كلا الجانبين على نص عربي، وهو ما يبدو تدريبًا على بدايات الحروف.
