Notlar Ms. codex., Title from inscription on 'title page' (p.1)., Layout: Written mainly in 17 lines per page with the three hemistichs of the takhmīs preceding each bayt of the qaṣīdah ; frame-ruled (impression of ruling board evident)., Script: Naskh ; compact, slightly awkward Egyptian [?] hand in a medium to bold line ; partially but irregularly seriffed with occasional tilt to the left, curvilinear descenders, pointing mainly in distinct dots though three dots represented by curved stroke looking like inverted comma, alif maqṣūrah often pointed as yāʼ ; extensively vocalized., Decoration: Some keywords rubricated ; textual dividers in the form of inverted commas., Support: European laid paper with 9 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 26-32 mm. apart (horizontal), three crescents / tre lune watermark (86 mm. long, perpendicular to chains, see pp.12, 30, 32, 86, etc.) and countermark "A 3" / "A Z" under trefoil (see pp.90, 93, etc.), sturdy, cream in color, well-burnished., Binding: Pasteboards covered in block-printed paper (mauve / dark pink with repeating three-lobed motifs and dots in black, triangles constituting interstices between repeating circular fields in mint green) with tan leather over spine ; Type III binding (without flap) ; board linings in dark blue / indigo laid paper ; ill-fitting and unattached to text block, essentially recycled cover serving as wrapper ; text block once sewn in cream thread, now failed with threads remaining only inside some gatherings ; traces of endband primaries in blue and cream ; overall in somewhat poor condition with wrapper ill-fitting, abrasion, staining, lifting and losses of leather and paper, minor pest damage, etc. ; housed in carboard portfolio for protection., Former shelfmark: Mich.
