Notlar Title from item. | Caption in English. | No.7606 | On the back of the card there is a note that reads: Bolsover Castle stands in a commanding position on a precipitous hill overlooking the vale of Scarsdale and the lofty moors which rise between Chesterfield, Shefield, and the Derwent Valley. It was originally built by William Peveril, a natural son of William the Conqueror, the present building being erected early in the seventeenth century by Sir Charles Cavendish, a younger son of Bess of Hardwick. The card is part of the Oilette series by Raphael Tuck & Sons; it refers to postcards from specially commissioned paintings. | more | less
