Mir Khvand describes the early conquests of the Muslims, including this victory over the Jewish fortress of Qamus, which concluded the battle of Khaybar in 628. The Prophet Muhammad watches from the right, as his son-in-law `Ali ibn Abi Talib pulls the door from the fortress, and uses it as a shield. Folio, ink, colours and gold on paper, Persian text in nasta`liq script, with painting (on recto), from The Garden of Purity in the Biography of the prophets, kings and caliphs (Rawzat al-safa fi sirat al-anbiya' wa'l-muluk wa'l-khilafa'), by Muhammad Khwandshah ibn Mahmud, or Mir Khvand (d. 1498), second volume of his universal history, this volume describes the Prophet Muhammad and the four Rashidun Caliphs, copied by Mahmud ibn Hajji al-Jahrami, probably Shiraz, Iran, dated 24 Rajab 1003H, 4 April 1595.
