Notlar This prayer book was originally composed in Morocco, by the Sufi scholar Muḥammad al-Jazūlī (d. 1465). Later copies were produced from North Africa to India, and often contain illustrations linked to the life and memory of the Prophet Muḥammad. In this richly-illuminated manuscript from North Africa (possibly Algeria or Tunisia) dated 1699 (1110H), there are facing-page diagrams of the Ka`ba shrine in Mecca and the Prophet's home and tomb in Medina (fols. 9v-10r), and the sacred outline of his sandal (fols. 10v-11r).
