Örnek Metin Qur'an scroll. Measuring over 11m in length and only 10cm in height, this scroll conveys the entire text of the Qur'an through a striking sequence of different calligraphic layouts, in which a large pious inscription dramatically overlays the packed and tiny text below. The outer borders meanwhile convey a long band of clearly written Qur'anic text (sura 112), written in gold. Scroll, ink, colours and gold on paper, backed on green silk, Arabic text in varying black, red, gold and white scripts (cursive and angular), periodically overlaying or reserving large thuluth, kufic or square kufic scripts against very small naskh or ghubar scripts, with illuminated sura-headings throughout, Qur'an (originally the complete text, suras 1, 2, 48 now missing), border naskh inscription repeating al-Ikhlas (sura 112), with panel grid of magic squares (awfaq), possibly Iran, undated, c. 1400-1450.
