Codex, ink, colours and gold on paper, gilt leather binding, 9 folios, Arabic and Persian text in nasta`liq script, with illuminated medallion (shamsa, pasted in, fol. 1r) heading (sarlawh, fol. 1v), gold-flecked folios and borders throughout, Forty Traditions (Arba`ūn Ḥadīth), Ḥadīth quotations in larger Arabic text followed by Persian paraphrase and commentary in smaller script, composed 1481 by `Abd al-Raḥmān Nūr al-Dīn Jāmī (1414-1492), copied and signed (fol. 9r) by Shāh Maḥmūd Nishapūrī, Mashhad, Iran, dated 966H, 1558-1559.
