Notlar	Map originally issued as part of: Kitâb-ı Cihânnümâ, printed by İbrahim Müteferrika, and whose text was composed by Kâtip Çelebi, first printed in Constantinople [modern day Istanbul], 1732. "The map was made in the Mercator projection. The latitudes and longitudes intersect at right angles. The Equator, the Tropics of Capricorn and Cancer are indicated. Distortion increases towards the south. The South Pole is depicted as very large, and the territories yet unexplored in North America are not left out but incorporated into the North Pole". Cf.
