Notlar	The photograph was taken in the context of an article printed in Cumhuriyet with the title, ‘First Turkish ship made on special initiative’. The vessel was financed by the lawyer Etemin Belkis and was hailed by the newspaper as the first boat of its kind constructed on Turkish initiative. - A crowd of people, including workers as well as elegantly dressed men in bowler hats, has gathered around the hull of the steamship ‘Belkis’ to celebrate her maiden voyage. Directly on the quay and facing the camera stand several children. On deck stand three engineers and more spectators. The ship is decorated with bunting.
