Notlar Ms. codex. Title from inscription on 'title page' (p.1). Collation: i, 8 V(80), IV+1 (89) ; almost exclusively quinions ; front flyleaf now affixed to opening leaf ; catchwords present ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (includes inserts). Layout: Written in 21 lines per page ; frame-ruled. Script: Naskh ; clear 'Syrian' or Turkish hand, small and compact ; mainly serifless, rounded with curvilinear descenders, very slight effect of tilt to the left, pointing in strokes rather than distinct dots, etc. Decoration: Keywords rubricated ; written area of incipit and facing page surrounded by frame consisting of gold band outlined by black fillets ; textual dividers in the form of letter hāʼ in red. Support: European laid paper with 9 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 28 mm. apart (horizontal), watermark of anchor in circle with six-pointed star above (65 mm. tall, see p.170, 179, etc.), and "T C" under trefoil countermark (see p.181) ; sturdy though crisp ; well-burnished to glossy. Binding: Pasteboards covered in once yellow-tinted laid paper (see flap) with dark brown leather over spine, fore edge flap, and edges/turn-ins (framed binding) ; Type II binding (with flap) ; board linings in untinted laid paper ; sewn in dark blue thread, two stations, many threads broken ; overall in somewhat poor condition with significant abrasion, staining, lifting and losses of leather, etc. ; repairs to spine and fore edge flap in tan leather. Former shelfmark: From inner front cover and spine label, "IL 64b" (likely supplied by Yahuda, see acquisitions slip). Accompanying materials: a. Acquisitions slip from Yahuda (pp.1-2) -- b.Inventory cataloguing slip in hand of Winifred Smeaton Thomas (pp.3-4). Origin: As appears in colophon on p.182, copied by Ḥājjī Muḥammad ibn Ḥājjī Sinān (Hacı Mehmet bin Hacı Sinan) with transcription completed 4 [?] Dhū al-Ḥijjah 986 [ca. 1 February 1579]. Shelfmark: Ann Arbor, University of Michigan, Special Collections Research Center, Isl. Ms. 530. Incipit: "الحمد لله رب العالمين والصلوة والسلام على رسوله محمد واله وعلى جميع رسل الله وانبيائه ... وبعد يقول الفقير الى رحمة ربه الغني مصطفى بن زكريا ابن ايدغرمش القرماني ... لما رأيت مختصر مقدمة الصلاة المنسوب تأليفه الى الشيخ الامام ختم المجتهدين ... نصر بن محمد الفقيه ابي الليث السمرقندي ... قد اشتهر فيما بين الانام بركاته وشملتهم فوائده ... اردت ان اكتب له شرحا تحل مشكلاته ويفصل مجملاته ... فسميته التوضيح وسألت الله ان ينفع به كما نفع باصله ..." Explicit: "ثم اعتقادي مذهب النعماني والى الخير والصلاح نقطع الكلام راجين من الله الفلاح والنور بالنجاح انه هو الوهاب الفتاح وشاركين حامدين على تمام التوضيح انه هو المشكور على افاضة نعمه والمسؤول خاتمة السعادة بفضله وكرمه ... حسبنا الله ونعم الوكيل تمت" Colophon: "Scribal," rectangular, reads "قد وقع الفراغ من هذا الشرح المبارك في شهر ذي الحجة في يوم اربع في تاريخ سنة ٩٨۶ على يد العبد الفقير الحقير حاجي محمد ابن حاجي سنان غفر الله له ولوالديه ... تمت"
