Title supplied by cataloguer. 1. p.6-p.461 : [al-Juzʼ al-thānī min Naẓm al-Jāmiʻ al-kabīr] / Aḥmad ibn Abī al-Muʼayyad al-Nasafī. 2. p.461-p.464 : [Naẓm fī madḥ al-Nabī] / Jalāl al-Dīn al-Khuwārizmī al-ʻAlawī. Collation: ii, V-2 (8), 22 V(228), I (230), ii ; almost exclusively quinions ; catchwords rarely present ; quire numbering in the form of whole words in the upper outer margin of the recto of the opening leaf of each quire, mainly cut off until the ninth quire ; foliation in black ink, Hindu-Arabic numerals ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (includes flyleaves). Layout: Written in 21 lines per page ; frame-ruled (impression of ruling board evident). Script: Naskh ; elegant 'Syrian' or Iraqi [?] hand in a thin to medium line, alternating large bolder lines with more compact lines ; mainly serifless (though right-sloping head-serif appears on occasional ascender) and quite rounded with curvilinear descenders (some sweeping), elongation of horizontal strokes, pointing in distinct dots, kāf occasionally represented by vertical stroke with miniature kāf seated atop it, extensively vocalized. Decoration: Section headings rubricated. Support: non-European laid paper with 8-9 laid lines per cm. (horizontal, 20 in 25-26 mm.) and chain lines grouped in threes (or twos and threes) with 10-14 mm. between chains and 48-55 mm. between groups ; well-sized and burnished, quite smooth, fairly crisp and sturdy, inclusions. Binding: Pasteboards covered in black cloth with black leather over spine (quarter binding) ; Western-style binding (not original) ; pastedowns and flyleaves in wove paper ; spine gold-tooled with title and fillets flanking raised bands ; resewn in white thread, six stations ; overall in fair condition with minor abrasion, etc. Former shelfmark: From front flyleaf and spine label "IL 394" (likely supplied by Yahuda, see acquisitions slip). Accompanying materials: a. Acquisitions slip from Yahuda -- b. Inventory cataloguing slip in hand of Winifred Smeaton Thomas. Origin: As appears in colophon on p.461, transcription completed ("...min shughl naskhih faraghtu...") 9 Jumādá I 618 [ca. 1 July 1221] apparently for one Shihāb al-Dīn. As appears in preceding authorial colophon (p.461), composition completed 30 Muḥarram 515 [ca. 20th April 1121]. Explicit: "وما ضر شمسا اشرقت في علوها حجود حشود وهو عن نورها عمي" Colophon: "Authorial" reads "واتممته والحمد لله وحده صبيحة يوم السبت سلخ المحرم اوان ربيع عام خمسة عشرة وخمسمائة تاريخ عدل مقوم" ; "Scribal" reads "واني بحمد الله من شغل نسخه فرغت بتوفيق الاله المعظم عشية يوم السبت ليلة تاسع لدى جمادى الاول الشهر معلم وخمسة الاف وخمسون صورة وخمسمائة بية [بيت؟] وبالخسم يختم لفضل ...
