Notlar Ms. codex., Title supplied by cataloguer., Collation: Chiefly quinions ; foliation in black ink, Hindu-Arabic numerals through folio 274., Layout: Written in 17 lines per page (single column, octagonal shape)., Script: Ghubār script ; compact, elegant hand with curvilinear descenders, open counters, pointing in distinct dots, fully vocalized., Decoration: Double-page illumination of interlocking vegetal designs in gold, lapis, and white surrounding text of Sūrat al-Fātiḥah at opening of volume ; double-page illumination of symmetrical arabesque in gold, red, light blue, and white at close of volume ; written area surrounded by frames of gold bands outlined by black fillets ; illuminated sūrah headings consisting of rectangular fields of gold outlined in red with headings in black ink., Support: Laid paper without watermarks (likely Persianate) ; quite thin and well-burnished., Binding: Thin, stiff, octagonal boards covered in dark red leather ; Type III binding (without flap), likely two-piece binding (overlapping flanges apparent at spine) ; board linings and outer flyleaves in light blue paper ; upper and lower covers carry four-lobed stamped central ornament with tooled (chain or repeating s-shape) and gold-painted borders and accents, upper ornament carries a faint inscription, lower ornament a symmetrical vegetal pattern ; sewing in dark pink thread, two stations ; worked chevron endbands in dark pink and light blue, good condition ; wrapped in a circle of cotton fabric printed with holly and evergreen branches in dark green and red for nestling inside silver case., Accompanying materials: Accompanied by a silver case enclosure (likely a later association) ; compare case accompanying no.18 (Iran, 18th or 19th century) in Safwat, Golden Pages, p.97 ; each face of case incised with floral spray motifs ; on two opposite faces appear fasteners through which a strap or cord may have once been passed ; lid (with hook clasp and single hinge) is inscribed [center] نصرا من الله وفتح قريب بشر المؤمنين [perimeter] بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ما شاء الله لا حول ولا قوة الا بالله العلي العظيم, Shelfmark: Ann Arbor, University of Michigan, Special Collections Research Center, Isl.
