Notlar Ms. fragment., Title supplied by cataloguer., Incipit: "عنهم عذاب الخزي في الحيوة الدنيا ...", Collation: Single folio ; no catchword visible., Layout: Written in 5 lines per page ; frame-ruled., Script: Thuluth ; calligraphic hand ; fully vocalized., Decoration: Illuminated marginal decoration marking divisions -- specifically ثمن with opening of verse 104, marking the opening of the 8th thumn (= eighth) of the 22nd ḥizb (= sixtieth) of the text., Support: Hand laid paper with roughly 9 laid lines per cm (horizontal) and chain lines (vertical) visible in groups -- a group of two followed by a group of three etc -- with 8-10 mm between the chains and 50-52 mm between the groups., Former shelfmark: Kelsey 64.2.5 and Kelsey 64.2.6, Shelfmark: Ann Arbor, University of Michigan, Special Collections Research Center, Isl. Ms. 1085, Origin: Paper, hand, provenance, etc would suggest early to mid 14th century, perhaps Egypt (cf. Humbert 1998 p.43 and Humbert 1999)., Variant readings / recitations (qirāʼāt) with abbreviations appear on margins. Gifted in 1964 by Dr. Alexander Grant Ruthven (1882-1971) who served as the University of Michigan's seventh president from 1929 to 1951. Likely collected in Egypt by his son Peter (Alexander Peter Ruthven 1912-1965). Transferred to the Rare Book Room from the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology in 1981.
