Notlar Ms. codex., Title from inscription on fol.1a (p.1)., Incipit: "الحمد لله الذي تولهت الافهام في كبرياء ذاته وتحيرت الاوهام في عظمة صفاته ... وبعد فاعلموا ان معاشر طلاب اليقين سلام عليكم لا نبتغى الجاهلين ان اصحاب العقل متطابقون", Explicit: "هذا انما يكون مجازا مفارقا للكذب ولو وجد بجد في نية ... ارادة ... ولم يوخذ ... لا نهي [؟] تم بعون الله عز وجل", Collation: V+1 (11), V (21), VI (33), 3 V(63), I (65), 6 V(125), I (127), 2 V(147) ; chiefly quinions ; mid-bifolium of second quire was mistakenly placed between first and second quire such that it was mistakenly paginated pp.23-26, now correctly placed between pp.34-35 ; catchwords present though occasionally lacking, consistently appear on final leaf of each quire ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization., Layout: Written in 29 lines per page ; frame-ruled (impression of ruling board evident)., Script: Nastaʻlīq (talik) ; elegant Turkish (?) hand ; virtually serifless ; effect of slight tilt to the right and occasional descent of words to the baseline ; final words and letters of lines occasionally superscript ; mainly closed counters ; some sweeping descenders, more tapered ; some free assimilation of letters ; point of nūn assimilated with bowl., Decoration: Text rubricated with keywords, section headings, overlining, etc. in red., Support: non-European (likely Arab) laid paper with 8-9 laid lines per cm. (horizontal) and chain lines arranged in groups of three (vertical) with 9-14 mm. between the chains and 31-42 mm. between the groups., Binding: Pasteboards covered in red brown leather ; Type II binding (with flap) ; doublures in brown leather ; upper and lower covers each bear a superbly executed gold-tooled mandorla accented by fine rope border extending to form pendants and filled with interlace (compare Weisweiler W 89-95), along with tooled rope border and gold-tooled cornerpieces ; design is continued on envelope flap ; sewn in cream thread, two stations, though sewing broken or completely lost in many quires ; many loose leaves ; endbands virtually gone, only traces remain ; in fair condition with abrasion, staining, lifting of leather at spine and fore-edge though cover is nearly entirely detached from textblock and ill-fitting (large)., Former shelfmark: British Museum, London "No. 26.
