Central text on each page is framed in simple blue and gold border. Initial page features an elaborite design in blue, gold, orange, and green paint. Incidental maps and diagrams in margins are usually executed in blue ink. Map of Mediterranean world laid in page 22. A single page of notes with diagram depicting the kaʻbah as the center of the world along with many notes is laid into this codex., Shelfmark: Ann Arbor, University of Michigan, Special Collections Research Center, Isl. Ms. 215, Origin: According to colophon on p.341, transcription completed in Dhū al-Qaʻdah 993 [October/November 1585 CE]. Gottfried Hagen has identified most of the marginalia --- notes, maps, and drawings --- as belonging to the esteemed Ottoman scholar Kâtip Çelebi (1609-1657) cf. Hagen, "Kâtib Çelebi and Sipâhîzâde," 2006., Former owners' marks on 'title page' (p.7) include several seal impressions (mainly oval) and obscured statements ; oval seal impressions on incipit page (p.8).
