Notlar Ms. codex., Title from closing matter on p.204., Incipit: "منت خدایرا عز و جل که طاعتش موجب قربتست ...", Explicit: "تمام شد کتاب گلستان و الله المستعان و بتوفیق خدای عز اسمه درین جمله چنانکه رسم مؤلفان است از شعر متقدمان بطریق استعارت تلفیقی نرفت ... واطلب لنفسک من خیر ما ترید بها من بعد ذلک غفرانا لصاحبه", Colophon: "Scribal," triangular, reads "تمام شد کتاب گلستان بعون الله الملک المنان فی دار الخلافه طهران صانها الله عن الحدثان اللهم اجعل خاتمه اموری خیرا", Collation: 4 IV(32), III (38), 7 IV(94), IV+1 (103) ; almost exclusively quaternions ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during cataloguing., Layout: Written in 12 lines per page, divided to two columns to set off verses ; frame-ruled., Script: Shikastah-nastaʻlīq ; elegant hand in a thin line ; compact and freely ligatured with effect of words descending to baseline, pointing in conjoined dots, elongation of horizontal strokes and sweeping descenders (many reversed or recurved)., Decoration: Fine illuminated headpiece (ʻunwān / sarlawḥ) at opening on p.2 consisting of rectangular piece carrying basmalah flanked by floral motifs on fields of gold and dark blue (approaching lapis) surmounted by rectangular piece with empty gold cartouche and triangular piece / hasp with floral motifs in lavender, orange and green on dark blue ground itself surmounted by further swirling floral motifs (in shades of blue, lavender, orange, green and white) on a gold ground, all set in a well of bands in dark blue with white crosses, orange with black crosses, red with white crosses, spring green with black crosses and gold and black interlace ; written area surrounded by frame of gold bands with outermost blue fillet ; margin and divisions within written area defined by narrow gold bands outlined in black ; some keywords in blue., Support: Wove paper, dark cream to beige in color, well-burnished to glossy ; some breakthrough at frames., Binding: Pasteboards covered in painted lacquerwork with black leather over spine ; Type III binding (without flap) though covers not flush with text block ; doublures each in painted lacquerwork, a dark red field bordered in black with gold vegetal accents ; upper and lower covers carry paintings of nearly identical floral composition on black background with red-bronze (lustrous, metallic quality) rule borders, namely a central cluster of poppies, roses, iris, etc. with leaves, buds and other floral forms all in shades of pink and dark green ; sewn in spring green thread, two stations ; worked chevron endbands in spring green and pink, good condition ; overall in fairly good condition with minor crazing, cracking and losses of lacquer and paint., Former shelfmark: "95 T. De M.
