Notlar Ms. codex., Title from label on upper cover., Collation: VII (14) ; catchwords present ; pagination in pencil supplied during digitization., Layout: Written in 11 lines per page ; frame-ruled., Script: Naskh ; fine Ottoman hand (?) ; partially seriffed with tear-drop head serif on shafts for lām, ṭāʼ, etc. but not free-standing alif ; point of final nūn often joined to bowl ; slight effect of tilt to the left ; graceful but heavy line ; fully vocalized., Decoration: Illuminated marginal rosette with vertical stalk accents marks the opening of this juzʼ ; textual dividers in the form of gold discs mark verse endings ; written area framed by a heavy gold band flanked with black fillets ; simple rectangular panels bear each sūrah heading (often flanking the basmalah) in gold-framed cartouche ; empty tailpiece appears at close on fol.14a (p.27) ; text rubricated with sūrah headings, sigla (namely "ط" for "مطلق" to mark pauses) and other abbreviations, etc. in red., Support: European laid paper with chain lines running horizontally spaced 26 mm. apart and laid lines spaced roughly 10 laid lines per cm. ; watermarks include eagle, wings and legs spread, with "B G" below alternating with scrollwork or coat of arms with crown above and inside lion rampant (?) ; some ink and leather burn., Binding: Pasteboards covered in red leather ; Type II binding (with flap) ; board linings in paper, interior of fore edge flap in blue silk ; upper and lower cover bear simple blind-tooled design of circles and lines along with border in a series of s-shaped stamps ; paper label on cover reads "الجزء التاسع والعشرون ٢٩" ; sewn in magenta thread, four stations ; in fair condition with some abrasion, staining, and moisture damage ; lifting and cracking of spine leather., Former shelfmark: British Museum, London "No. 64. Örnek Metin Fine copy of the twenty-ninth juzʼ of the Qurʼān (Juz' al-Mulk, aw Juzʼ Tabāraka) which together with Isl. Ms. 2 forms part of a multi-volume muṣḥaf with each juzʼ bound in a single volume. As expected, opens with Sūrat al-Mulk verse 1 (67:1) and closes with Sūrat al-Mursalāt verse 50 (77:50).
