Notlar	Date of late 19th cent. based on use of wood-pulp paper., Illumination on pp. [1-2]; illuminated chapter headings; verse endings marked by illuminated rosettes, each different; text enclosed in wide borders of gold, red, and black; marginal rosettes mark division of text inot sections; colophon decorated in gold foliate patterns with spaces left for name of calligrapher and date; edges gilded; bound in heavy case and engraved silver, both front and back covers bear design of basket and flowers with grape vines and band of inscription: hādhā al-muṣḥaf, al-sharīf kalām Allāh al-qadīm al-faqīrah [?]hrī yartajī mughfirat rabbihā innahu la-Qurʼān karīm kitāb maknūn lā yamassuhu illā al-muṭahharūn tanzīl min rabb al-ʻālamīn ṣāḥiban wa-milkan; three silver-gilt clasps cast and engraved in form of roses; spine has intertwining floral design with space left for engraving; inserted inside front cover: postcard, marked "Alexandrie Egypte Cairo," of family tree of the Prophet and selvage-edge piece of heavy black cloth., Purchased in Cairo, 1924. Band of inscription on covers indicates that owner of book was a woman, although the name is not clear. Later part of the personal manuscript collection of Sultan Abdülhamid II of Turkey.
