Notlar	"It is richly illustrated with 39 engraved, large folding plates depicting plans of fortified places, military mining, artillery, etc. Large woodcut at the beginning of text. Folio, original Turkish binding (18th cent.) of brown calf, blind tooled ornaments in center and corners showing military emblems. The binding is rubbed and has some slight damages.", Konstantin İpsilanti was commissioned to translate "Traité de l'attaque et de la défense des places" into Turkish. He translated and illustrated the work, and presented it to Sultan Selim III. Konstantin İpsilanti was appointed by Sultan Selim III to the post of dragoman of the Ottoman Porte, later, to be the ruler of Ottoman vassal states of Moldavia and Wallachia.
