Notlar Ms. fragment., Title supplied by cataloguer., Incipit: "إليكم وما أنزل إليهم خاشعين لله لا يشترون ...", Collation: 3 consecutive folios ; no catchwords visible., Layout: Written in 7 lines per page., Script: Muḥaqqaq ; carefully calligraphed and fully vowelled ; tawqīʻ used for display script in headings., Decoration: Headings chrysographed ; illuminated textual dividers in the form of gold rosettes with blue and red accents mark the ends of verses ; marginal decoration in almond shape (eg pointed oval figure, vesica piscis) in gold and blue marks "نصف حزب" (niṣf ḥizb), Support: Hand laid paper without watermarks, laid lines running vertically with roughly 6-7 laid lines per cm and chain lines only occasionally visible in these three folios ; resembles Syro-Egyptian styles documented by Loveday (2001)., Former shelfmark: Kelsey 64.2.7 and Kelsey 64.2.8, Shelfmark: Ann Arbor, University of Michigan, Special Collections Research Center, Isl. Ms. 1074, Origin: Hand, ornament, paper etc would suggest Mamluk era ; perhaps 15th century. Provenance suggests Egypt., Numerical inscription (Western numerals) in black ink on opening recto -- appears to be inventory number and / or date -- "881 16231" ; occasional stray pencil marks (dash, x) in the margins. Gifted in 1964 by Dr. Alexander Grant Ruthven (1882-1971) who served as the University of Michigan's seventh president from 1929 to 1951. Likely collected in Egypt by his son Peter (Alexander Peter Ruthven 1912-1965). Transferred to the Rare Book Room from the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology in 1981.
