Interlinear and marginal ḥāshiyah, apparently by the same hand as the main text. Soft cream paper with laid and chain lines visible. Several short texts, verses of poetry in Persian and ownership statements in Arabic and Ottoman Turkish on fol. 1a. Fol. i (fol. 1 in the modern foliation in pencil) is a later addition on European paper, with inscriptions, including "1160" in Arabic numerals.Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the upper cover: "Lisān tā 12(?)". Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover: "Ḥ 390".Copy completed in 844 H. (colophon, fol. 257a, = 258a in the modern foliation in pencil).Incipit: نحمدك اللهم على ما هديتنا اليه من دقايق المعانى ببدايع البيان واطلعتنا عليه ... وبعد فقد طال ما جال فى صدرى ودار فى خلدى ان ارتب للقسم الثالث من مفتاح العلوم شرحًا ... [2أ] ... قوله القسم الثالث من الكتاب فى علمى المعانى والبيان رتب كتابه على ثلاثة اقسام وارد فيها بتكملة وفنين وتوجيهه ان علم العربية المسمى بعلم الادبExplicit: فوجب ان يورد فى كتابه علم الاستدلال المشتمل على علم الحدّ لانه جزء من علم البلاغة كما صرّح به فيما مرّ وحققه ههنا وهذا آخر ما يسّر الله تع بمنّه ولطفه من كشف فوايد هذا العلم والنظم فرايد ونساءل الله سبحانه ان ينفع به المسترشدين وان يجعله ذخرا لنا يوم الدين قد نجر الفراغ من تاليفه اواسط شوال من سنه ثلث وثمانمايه وحسبنا الله ونعم الوكيل - Dark brown leather over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers. Both covers have a central blind stamped mandorla, outlined in gold, with a blind-tooled and gold painted outer border. Red and cream marbled paper pastedowns. - Commentary on the third part of Miftāḥ al-ʻulūm (al-Maʻānī wa-al-bayān), by Sirāj al-Dīn Yūsuf ibn Abī Bakr al-Sakkākī (d. 626/1228 or 29), on rhetoric. The commentary is known as al-Misbāḥ fī sharḥ al-Miftāḥ, and was completed in Shawwāl 803 [1401] according the end of the text (fol. 257a, = 258a in the modern foliation in pencil).
