The work is also known as al-Muḥīṭ al-Raḍawī.Collation: Paper ; fol. ii + 189 + ii and ii + 226 + ii ; catchwords ; collation notes (see vol. 1, fol. 189b) ; foliation in ink using Hindu-Arabic numerals ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals.Layout: 17 lines per page ; frame-ruled in indigo.Description: Rubricated ; overlining and other use of red ; watermarks (later endpapers only: shield with a face-in-the-moon (v. 1), double-headed eagle (v. 2)) ; MS in good condition.Decoration: Elaborate title page decoration in gold, red, blue, turquoise, gray and white (volume 1, fol. 5a). Title of first chapter written in gold.Origin: According to colophon of volume 2, copy completed Thursday 14 Ramaḍān 936 by ʻAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn Majd al-Dīn al-Mālikī (volume 2, fol. 226a).Incipit: بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم رب يسر الحمد لله ذى المجد والجلال والكرم ... اما بعد فان من اشرف الامور وافضل العلوم عند الجهور بعد معرفة اصول الدين وعلم اليقين معرفة الفقه والاحكام ...Colophon: وکان الفراغ من نسخ هذا الجزء في اليوم المبارك يوم الخميس الرابع عشر من شهر رمضان المعظم ... سنة 936 على يد فقير رحمة ربه بکم عبد الرحمن احمد بن محمد بن احمد ابن مجد الدين المالکي لطف الله تعالى به وغفرله ولوالديه ولمشايخه ولاخوانه ولاصحابه ولجميع المسلمين اجمعين امين وحسبنا الله ونعم الوکيل وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد واله وصحبه وسلم - Later type II (with flap) binding in red leather. Blind-stamped inlaid mandorla with pendants and blind-tooled edging on covers. Similar decoration on flaps. Blue marbled paper pastedowns and flyleaves. Multi-colored endbands. Volume 2 in case (265 x 186 mm). - Volumes one and two of a work on Hanafite law. The whole work is in ten volumes.
