Notlar Ms. codex.Title supplied by the cataloger.The main text is written within a gold leaf frame outlined in black ink, and has 19 lines per page. It is in small naskh in black ink with use of red ink for underlined sections and gold ink for rubrication. Ff. 3b and 4a have illuminated head pieces executed in gold leaf and blue and red watercolors. Fol. 363a has a small illuminated tail piece of triangular shape with foliage motifs, executed in gold leaf with blue and red watercolors. The gloss is written around the frame of the main text, most of it clock-wise on the frame-ruled outer edge of the margins, but on some pages the space between the main text frame and the outer egde of the margins is also filled, where the text is written within set geometrical patterns in the shape of crossed triangles, and cypress trees on the top and the bottom of the text frame. The text of the gloss is written in very small naskh with use of red, and to a lesser extent gold, for rubrication. Dark cream glazed paper with visible laid lines. Some additional annotation added on inserted slips, chiefly at the start. Fol. 3a has an elegant small table of contents in gold and black, and several short inscriptions of a later date. It also has a very faint ownership seal. Fol. 1a has an ownership statement in the name of Hacı Ethem, dated 1283 (1866-67).Incipit: يقول العبد المتوسل الى الله باقوى الذريعة عبيد الله بن مسعود بن تاج الشريعة ... هذا حل المواضع المغلقة من وقاية الرواية من مسائل الهدايةExplicit: ومع ذلك يباح التناول اعتمادا على الغالب - Brown leather with envelope flap. Gold tooled border design on covers, made with gold guilloche with a gold fillet on either side. Large central mandorlas with pendants on upper and lower covers, blind stamped and then painted in dark burgundy and gold. Similar design on envelope flap, with gold guilloche, fillets and a small mandorla. Gold guilloche and fillets on the fore edge flap. Leather doublures and linings to the fore edge and envelope flaps. Label on upper cover: "121". The binding is damaged and upper cover is loose. Many leaves in the first half of the ms. also loose. - Sharḥ al-Wiqāyah by ʻUbayd Allāh ibn Masʻūd al-Maḥbūbī, a commentary on Wiqāyat al-riwāyah fī masāʼil al-Hidāyah, a work on fiqh by the author's grandfather, Maḥmūd ibn Ṣadr al-Sharīʻah al-Maḥbūbī (d. 1274 or 5). As for the work itself, Wiqāyat al-riwāyah is an epitome of the work called al-Hidāyah by ʻAlī ibn Abī Bakr al-Marghīnānī (d. 1196 or 7). The main text is accompanied in the margins by its gloss by Yūsuf ibn Junayd Akhī Chalabī (d. ca. 1497), called Dhakhīrat al-ʻuqbá.
