The name of the author appears in the title and the preamble as "Maḥmūd Ibn Isrāʾīl al-shahīr bi-Ibn Qāḍī Simāwnah".Physical description: 29 lines per page. Written in medium small naskh in black ink with use of red ; yāʾ for alif maqṣūrah. Light cream paper; glossy; with a few lines visible. Marginal annotations. Table of abbreviations in a grid in red ink on fol. 3b-4a, apparently written by the same hand as the main text. Several inscriptions in later hands on fol. 1a-3a, including Kabīkaj, ownership statements, and table of contents. Title on tail of text block. Stained with water.Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the upper cover: "Ḥ 117".
