Written in elegant naskh in black ink with scarce use of red for overlining and a few headings. The text is vocalized. European paper with watermark. Quinions and senions. Interlinear and marginal annotations on the beginning of the text. Several inscriptions and short texts on fol. 1a and 158a-b. Well preserved insect specimen on fol. 156b.Collation: Paper, fol. 158 ; 1-6⁸ 7⁶ 8-15⁸ 16⁶ 17-19⁸ 20⁸ (+2 ate end of quire) ; catchword on the verso of each leaf.Handmade label on the upper cover, with inscription in Arabic numerals: "312". The same inscription in Western numerals appears on fol. 1a.Origin: According to colophon, copied by Muḥammad Jaʻfar Marandī, living in the Madrasah-i Ṣādiqīyah, and completed in Shawwāl 1257 [1841] (fol. 157a; a note on the left margin adds "fī Dār al-Sulṭānīyah ...?" -- Mach-Ormsby read "Tabrīz").Incipit: بسم ... اللهم انا نحمدك على ما علمت من البيان والهمت من التبيان كما نحمدك ... [2أ] ... وبعد فانه جرى ببعض اندية الادب الذى سكت فى هذا العصرِ ريحهExplicit: فقال اجعل الموت نصب عينك وهذا فراق بيني وبينك فودعتيه وعبراتي تتحدرن من الماقى وزفراتى تتصعدن من التراقى وكانت هذه خاتمة التلاقى قال الشيخ الامام الرئيس ابو محمد القاسم ابن على الحريرى هذا اخر المقامات التى انشاءتها بالاغترار وامليتها بلسان الاضطرار قد الجئت الى ان ارصدتها [157أ] للاستعراض وناديت عليها في سوق الاعتراض هذا مع انّ معرفتى من سقط المتاع ... ليكن كان ذلك فى الكتاب مسطورًا وانا استغفر الله تع مما اودعتها من اباطيل اللغو وامنًا ليل اللهو واسترشده الى ما يعظم من السهو ... وولي الخيرات فى الدنيا والاخرةIncipit Khuṭbat al-bayān (fol. 157b): قال مولانا امير المومنين انا الذى عندى مفاتيح الغيب لا يعلمها بعد محمد ص غيرى وانا بكل شى عليم - Dark brown leather over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers. The covers are blind tooled and stamped with a central mandorla with two pendants on the vertical axis and an outer border consisting of fillets and a running pattern consisting of impressions on a s-shape stamp. Paper pastedowns. - Elegant copy of the Maqāmāt al-Ḥarīrī. The text is followed on fol. 157b by Khuṭbat al-bayān, attributed to Amīr al-Muʾminīn.
