Text is written inside a single line frame outlined in red ink. Text frames on fol. 2b-3a are in gold leaf outlined in black ink. Fol. 2b has a simple but elegant illuminated head piece (ʻunwān): a small dome with scalloped edges, filled with a foliage pattern in gold ink and bordered with gold leaf and dark blue watercolor edge with radiating sprigs in dark blue and orange watercolors; the whole surrounded in gold leaf frame filled with light purple watercolor. Catchwords on the verso of each leaf. Glazed European paper.Incipit: پوتهء تاب دادهء متخيله ده كداختهء تابش فيض ربانى اولان اجزاى كيمياى معانى انبيق خامهء كهر ريزدن قالب صحايفه تقطير اولندقجهExplicit: وهجوم خصومده دست وكريبان اولمغه اول دراز دستان نيرومند اقدام تام ايدرلر والسلام - Half leather binding. Beige paper with olive foliage motifs on covers with burgundy leather on spine and around cover edges. Wide gold guilloche and two gold fillets tooled on the leather edges of covers. Pastedowns in light blue paper, with sections of yellow paper along the joints between the covers and the text block. The binding is damaged and most of the leaves are almost or completely loose inside the covers. - An extended translation of and commentary on chapter 5 (see the description given in the text itself on fol. 5a) of Ghazzālī's Kīmiyāʾ al-Saʻādah.
