Light cream paper, glossy, with laid and chain lines visible. Ḥāshiyah on the margin. Inscriptions and short excerpts on fol. 201a-202b. Modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals (omits the first fol.).Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover: "1251 Ḥ".Origin: According to colophon, copied by ... ibn Ḥājjī Maḥmūd ibn Shaykh Maḥmūd in 866 H. from a copy written from a copy in the hand of al-Sayyid al-Sharīf (fol. 200a).Incipit: بسم ... وبه نستعين رب تمم بالخير والاحسان الحمد لله الذى جلت آلاؤه عن ان تحاط بعد وتعالت كبرياؤه عن ان تشتمل بحد ... وبعد فقد طلب الى بعض من اعتنى بصلاح حاله ... الكلمة لفظ وضع لمعنى مفرد اعلم ان الكلمة مفرد الكلم مثل ثمرة وثمرExplicit: ولم يثبت قوله المجرورات هو ما اشتمل على علم المضاف اليه - Dark brown leather over paper pasteboards for upper cover, fore-edge flap and envelope flap. Lower cover covered with paper. Upper cover has a central brown stamped scalloped mandorla filled with a floral arabesque, with small pendants on the vertical axis. Scalloped gold stamped roundel filled with a floral arabesque and outlined in gold with radiating flecks on the point of the envelope flap, with an outer border consisting of gilt fillets. Marbled paper pastedowns. Damaged. - Large commentary on al-Kāfīyah fī naḥw, a treatise by Jamāl al-Dīn ʻUthmān ibn ʻUmar Ibn al-Ḥājib (d. 646/1249). This copy ends before the section on majrūrāt.
