Written in medium small naskh in black ink with use of red for re-inking. Red and/or black pointed circles text-stops. Thick, soft cream paper, glossy, with pulp and laid and chain lines visible. Fol. 1-8 are modern replacements (European paper with watermark). Before fol. 1 in the modern foliation is a fly-leaf in the same European paper. Inscription on the upper margin of the first original folio (fol. 9a): "Sharḥ al-Bukhārī lil-Zarkashī tamāman naqaṣa minhu kirās fī awwalihi ---(?)". The text has been collated (see collation statement, fol. 195a).Inscription on the upper cover in pencil using Arabic numerals: "122".Origin: Copy completed during the night of Saturday 28 Jumādá al-Ākhirah 870 [Feb. 15, 1466] by Mūsá ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad ibn ʻAbd al-Qādir ibn Muḥammad ibn ʻAbd al-Qādir ibn ʻUthmān ibn ʻAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʻAbd al-Munʻim ibn Naʻamah ibn Sulṭān ibn Sarūr al-Jaʻfarī al-Maqdisī al-...? (colophon, fol. 195b).Incipit: الحمد لله على ما عم بالانعام وخص بالبيان والافهام والصلاة والسلام ... اما بعد فانى قصدت فى هذا الاملاء الى ايضاح ما وقع فى الصحيحBeginning of text in the original hand (fol. 9a): والمعروف الاول ولاندامي كان القياس ولانادمين جمع نادم من الندمExplicit: وان ينفع قاريه وكاتبه والراجع اليه عند الاشكال لمنّه وكرمه لا ربّ غيره ولا معبود سواه قال مولفه الشيخ الامام العلامة الحافظ بدر الدين محمد بن الفقير الى الله تعالي عبد الله الزركشى ختم الله له بالحسنى فرغت منه فى الثامن من ذي القعده الحرام سنه ثمان وثمانين وسبع مايه - Paper over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers and envelope flap. Dark brown leather for spine, fore-edge flap and edges.
